We created this blend to solve the biggest problem with dark coffee: the bitterness. By using ultra-dense, high-altitude beans, we are able to roast them into the "dark chocolate" spectrum without crossing into "burnt charcoal." The result is a cup with massive body and virtually zero acidity. It is black, opaque, and incredibly smooth. It hits the palate with the weight of heavy cream and roasted nutty warmth and leaves a finish that feels grounding. It is the coffee equivalent of a cashmere sweater.

The Blend Breakdown

Achieving a dark roast that is healthy and smooth requires specific genetic traits in the bean. We utilize a "High-Density" blend architecture:

  • The Structure (Catuai & Caturra): The base of this blend is built on a foundation of Red Catuai and Caturra. These varietals are chosen for their high oil content and physical density. When roasted dark, they don't disintegrate; instead, they release the heavy, emulsified oils that create the thick "crema" and velvety mouthfeel that defines this cup.

  • The Smoothness (High-Altitude Washed Arabica): To prevent the bite typical of French Roasts, we incorporate Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) Arabica. Grown at extreme elevations, these beans develop slowly and are incredibly hard. This density allows them to withstand high heat, caramelizing their sugars into a deep, molasses sweetness rather than burning into ash.

  • The Depth (Organic Typica): The final bean provides the "edge." We use an organic Typica lineage known for its earthy, savory complexity. This component provides the smoky, cedar-like low notes that cut through the sweetness, ensuring the coffee tastes bold and authoritative.

  • French Press: The ultimate method for The Deep Dive. The metal filter allows the dark roast oils to pass into the cup.

  • Water Temp: Drop the temp. Use water at 195°F - 200°F. Dark roasts extract easily; boiling water can make them taste ashy. Cooler water keeps them sweet and smooth.
