You deserve a better coffee this weekend.
The Weekender breaks the rules of delicate, tea-like roasts by embracing massive body and depth. From the first pour, it fills the room with notes of deep red fruit and caramelized sugar. On the tongue, it’s thick, syrupy, and satisfyingly heavy—a 'warm hug' in a mug that reminds you exactly why you waited all week for this.
Tasting Notes
Primary: Poached Pear & Red Wine (A sophisticated, juicy sweetness)
Secondary: Dark Chocolate Mousse (Dense, creamy body)
Finish: Wildflower Honey (A coating, lasting sweetness)
The Blend Breakdown
This blend is built on genetic rarity. We utilize three distinct Arabica lineages to create a cup that is both heavy and healthy:
The Soul (Yellow Bourbon): The base of this blend is comprised of Yellow Bourbon, a legendary heritage varietal prized for its natural sweetness and lower yield. Unlike modern hybrids designed for mass production, Bourbon produces a bean with higher natural sugar content, contributing the distinct "buttery" mouthfeel and notes of red wine and ripe fruit.
The Balance (Caturra & Typica): To ensure the cup remains restorative rather than heavy, we blend in high-altitude Caturra and Typica. These varietals are roasted specifically to preserve their chlorogenic acid (antioxidant) content. They provide the "clean" structure that cuts through the richness, ensuring the coffee is gentle on the stomach and leaves a crisp, tea-like finish.
The Body (Red Catuai): Finally, we add in Red Catuai, a varietal famous for its density and chocolate-forward profile. This serves as the anchor, deepening the crema and adding a distinct stone fruit (peach) sweetness that rounds out the edges of the cup.
Why You’ll Love It
Mouthfeel as a Nutrient: The "heavy on tongue" sensation isn't just texture; it's the result of preserved healthy coffee oils that are often filtered out of lesser blends.
The "Un-Bitter" Dark Roast: By using the Bourbon varietal, we achieve the richness of a dark roast without the charred, bitter aftertaste.
Recovery Fuel: Rich in polyphenols and low in acidity, this is the perfect recovery drink after a long week.
Perfect Pairings
Food: A butter croissant, dark chocolate almond bark, or a heavy brunch of eggs benedict.
Activity: Reading a book, a peaceful morning on the porch, or simply doing absolutely nothing.
Brewer’s Tip
To maximize the "syrupy" body, we highly recommend an immersion brew method.
French Press: The metal mesh allows the oils from the Yellow Bourbon to remain in the cup, maximizing the velvety texture.
Grind: Course, texture of Kosher Salt.
Ratio: 1:15 (Slightly stronger than average to highlight the fruit notes).
